The map, the reference pages, the PDF and the workbook are all generated from one data file, so the counts never disagree. Version 1.0.0, data version 2026.09.12, generated 2026-09-12, current through 12 September 2026.

PDFPDF referenceLetter size. The same text as the reference pages: reading the map, how the district assembled itself, four mechanisms, recognition, how districts get seen, network metrics, method, source register and index of nodes. ExcelNode and edge datasetRead me, Nodes (with jurisdiction, entity of record, hub region, place year basis, confidence, sources, pins and metrics), Edges, Businesses, Business moves, Districts with formulas, How districts get seen with formulas, comparator sources, source register and data dictionary. JSONdata.jsonThe single source: nodes, edges, sources, the comparator table, release and data version, cutoff, and the county basemap used by the Cities view.

What is in the data

108 nodes of seven kinds: businesses, one person, plazas and property, streets and crossings, civic bodies and programmes, organisations, and events and press recognitions, each assigned to one of eleven layers of the place and to one of three hub regions on the street or to the Outside the corridor or Location not recorded cluster. 105 directed edges of eleven types: located in, opened, relocated to, grew into, became, related venture, produced, programme or licence, appears in, collaboration and supported; influence is defined and unused on this release. Every node carries a confidence grade (High, Medium or Low), source ids, a status as of the cutoff date, a place year with its basis, a pin with its basis, and computed metrics: degree, distinct neighbours, betweenness on the full graph and betweenness on the location and lineage graph.

The source register holds 155 sources (5 academic, 41 official, 1 official social, 62 press, 46 reference), cited by id beside claims in the reference, in the node entries and in the Sources column of the workbook. The rules for inclusion, timeline placement, hub regions, jurisdiction and the people on the map are set out in Reading the map; the evidence standard and the open items are in Method. Placer figures appear only as published on the Detection #2 page.
