The earlier attempt to manufacture a Chinatown in Miami-Dade. Miami Chinatown Development Corp. was filed on 27 October 1988 at 331 NE 18th Street for a 52 million dollar residential and commercial project of 200 condominium units and a three storey building of Chinese owned businesses; the City of Miami granted zoning variances and deadline extensions, the Algonquin was demolished in March 1993, Dade Heritage Trust won an injunction over the Priscilla Apartments in 1995, and by February 1995 an assistant city manager called the project dead. The corporation was dissolved on 22 January 1997.
