The Real Deal reported on 9 June 2017 that Miami-Dade County and the City of North Miami Beach designated the boulevard from NW 2nd Avenue to NE 15th Avenue as Chinatown on 1 July 2015, after a county study counted 47 Asian and Chinese businesses, that the city had shortlisted three planning firms for a study, and that New York Mart had committed to a store and restaurant in the district. Neither the county resolution nor a city page is found, the city site search for Chinatown returns only the zoning study, and no gateway, sign or plan followed.
